One of the most vibrant, heartwarming aspects of Kelowna ComiCon is the incredible cosplay community that shows up year after year. From jaw-dropping craftsmanship to clever character interpretations, every hallway and panel room comes alive thanks to the creativity and dedication of our attendees. But cosplay isn’t just about the costumes—it’s about connection. And that’s where cosplay meetups truly shine.

What Makes Cosplay Meetups Special?

Cosplay meetups are more than just a quick photo op. They’re a chance to step out from behind the mask (literally!) and bond with others who share your passion. Whether you’re repping a popular series like My Hero Academia, gathering fellow Disney villains, or organizing a niche fandom group, meetups are a low-pressure, welcoming environment to swap tips, take group photos, make new friends, and just geek out over the characters and stories you love.

It’s an opportunity to celebrate not only the characters you’re portraying but also the community that makes events like Kelowna ComiCon feel like home.

New for 2025: Apply to Host Your Own Meetup!

To make meetups run even smoother this year, we’re opening up applications for those interested in hosting their own cosplay gatherings! Whether you’re passionate about a particular show, genre, or cosplay style, we want to give you the chance to lead your own meetup and bring your community together.

​

By applying, you’ll help us streamline the schedule and make sure each meetup has a dedicated time and space to shine. When submitting your application, don’t forget to include your preferred time slots—this helps us avoid overlap and gives everyone the best possible experience.

Note: It is recommended to source your own photographer for your meetup. We cannot guarantee convention photographer availability.

Due to time restrictions and other concerns not all applicants may be accepted. Please make sure to apply in a timely manner so your entry can be reviewed. Again the deadline for entry is June 20th, 2024.

 

Costume, Weapons & Props Rules

 

Due to the fact it is a family-friendly event and we want to be safe there will be restrictions for the contest. Note in particular that metal blades (sharp or blunt), working projectile weapons, and wooden or metal bats & paddles are all forbidden, as well as any outfits deemed unfit for a family-friendly environment( ie: nudity, exposed costume or prosthetic genitalia. Adult fetish attire such as extreme BDSM gear is also unsuitable.) If you are unsure if your costume is acceptable email cosplay@kelownacomicon.com)
